On Thursday at the D4 Section Championships we successfully defended our Women's title with a 62-61 win over second place Vista Del Lago. This win was our Fourth Section Championship in a row 2011-2012-2013-2014

Tonight was a record setting evening for COHS Track and Field.
The Women won their 5th consecutive Section Championship. The title came down to the last event of the day, the 4x400m. CO entered the race with a 7 point lead over Vista and our Women need to finish top 4 in the 4x4 to secure the championship. It was an epic 4x4 by Imani Parker, Kendall Herod, Miah Moore and Natasumi Mcgee.
Our team had three Individual Section Champions. Natsumi McGee won both the 200m and 400m section titles, Mishaye Venerable won the Long Jump title and Tais Marinho-Gomez won the Triple Jump. It was a true team effort with other scoring coming from Boateng and Joy Johnson in the 100m hurdles and Baoteng again in the 300m hurdles. Kendall also scored in the 800m race by breaking her own school record by nearly two seconds. The 4x1 of McGee, Howard, Venerable and Evy Banales scored with a third place finish and Sienna Jackson, a freshman, also participated and fell just outside the scoring.
The Men also had success at the Section meet by securing event section titles in the 4x4, Javon Johnson, Elijah Whitmore, Perry Deguzman and Alex Van Dyke won the 4x400m, Alex also scored in the open 400m and Teddy Nguyen was section champion in the Long Jump

The Women's team was led by Natsumi McGee's three section wins in the 100m - 200m and 4x1 and a 3rd place finish in the 4x400m, qualifying for the Maters Meet in 4 events. The wind was howling all night but Natsumi dominated in the 100m (12.34)and 200m (25.25) individual events and is currently the top seed for this week's Masters event in the 100m. Fiyin Olusola also was part of the champion 4x100m team and added her own individual championship in the 100m hurdles (15.09 - season best) a second place finish in the 300m hurdles (46.77- season best) and a leg on the 3rd place 4x400m team. Lexi Becker provided the anchor leg of the champion 4x100m (48.84 - season record ) she also finished 5th in the 100m adding to the team scoring. Freshman Amor Howard was the 3rd leg on the 4x100m and was also on the 4x400m. Kendall Herod and Joy Johnson ran in the 4x400m on Tuesday to qualify the team for the finals. Mishaye Venerable was the champion in the Long Jump (17'1.25") and ran a leg of the 4x400m finals (4:08.89). Tais Marinho- Gomez added a second place finish in the Triple jump ( 36'2") to round out the team scoring. Once again the title came down to the last event, the 4x400. Our triple jumpers were competing when the 4x400 started and when the race finished CO had it's third consecutive Section Championship solidifying our dominance of the section. All these athletes have qualified for this week's Masters Meet - the gateway to the State track Meet. Great Job ladies!
The Men's recap
The men started the meet with a Section Championship by Teddy Nguyen in the Long Jump (22'2.75" - school record ) followed by a third place finish in the 4x100m (43.38) Jaron Moore anchored the team with Dwayne Darden on leg 1. Kaelin Wilhite was on the second leg of the 4x100 and also added to the team scoring with a 4th place finish in the 100m (11.33). Elijah Whitmore was a member of the 4x100, team as well as securing a 3rd place finish in the 400m ( 49.98) and a leg on the Section Champion 4x400m team (3:23.86) Alex Van Dyke was the final member of the 4x400m as well as providing his own individual scoring in the 400m with a second place finish (49.83). Marcus Harmon ran in the trials of the 4x400 and Keoni Stallworth provided an inspired leg in the 4x400 finals. All these athletes have qualified for the Master Meet starting Thursday.
2013 League Championship results and
We had a tremendously successful championship meet this week. We sent a number of Varsity athletes forward into the divisional meet which is the next step in our march toward the State Meet. Our JV teams had a tremendous amount of success as well. The JV season ended yesterday and we went out with a bang.
